Layers is about everything we carry within us – experiences, memories, emotions and the different versions of ourselves that develop throughout life.
Faces and figures appear through colours, lines and overlapping forms. Some are clear, while others are partly hidden beneath the surface. Just like in life, one layer does not replace another. They exist together and become part of who we are.
The painting reflects the complexity of being human – how we can hold strength and vulnerability, past and present, lightness and depth at the same time.
We are never only one thing. We are all our layers.
