Each painting begins with an emotion rather than a plan.

Some artworks are completed within hours, while others remain in my studio for months or even years, slowly evolving through new layers of colour, texture and experience.

Rather than painting what I see, I paint what I feel.

Nature, architecture, human connection and the changing seasons continually influence my work, but I also leave space for the viewer to discover their own story within each piece.

No two paintings are ever alike.

MY WAY OF CREATING

My work is intuitive, layered and constantly evolving.

I primarily paint with acrylics, often building a piece through many layers of colour, texture and marks. Sometimes I work with collage, drawing or mixed media; other times the expression becomes simpler and more graphic. I enjoy moving between these different ways of working rather than defining myself through one particular style.

Layers are an important part of my process. I paint over, remove, redraw and allow traces of what came before to remain visible. I am not searching for perfection. Pencil lines, unexpected marks and imperfections are often left untouched because they become part of the history of the painting.

My background in architecture naturally influences the way I see. I notice composition, proportions, lines, spaces and the relationship between different elements. But when I paint, I try to move away from planning and control. Painting is where I allow intuition to take over.

Nature, the human form, faces, movement and human connection return again and again in my work. Some paintings are quiet and delicate, others are colourful, raw or expressive. I never really know exactly where a painting will end when I begin.

Perhaps that is what I love most about creating – allowing something to emerge rather than deciding beforehand what it should become.

Every layer leaves a trace.

Every painting tells a story
